The RS-485 interface uses Dahua's private protocol and can only be used with Dahua controllers or other Dahua readers. The Wiegand interface can be used to connect to any controller from other manufacturers as well.
RS-485 has a longer range (up to 400 m) connection via 2 wires + power supply. Wiegand has a shorter range (up to 60 m), connection via 4 wires + power supply.
